The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is one of the UK's largest trade union.
A vacancy exists for a Deputy Head of Media and Communications based at the Union's Head Office.

The principal duties are: under the general supervision of the Head of Media and Communications, to participate as part of a management team in the strategic direction and development of the work of the department to ensure the provision of a full and comprehensive media and communications service to the Union; to assist in the management and development of the staff in the Media and Communications Department; to deputise for the Head of Media and Communications in their absence as necessary.
The successful applicant will possess: knowledge of contract management, procurement and purchasing; knowledge of event management and co-ordination; commercial awareness and budget/cost management know how; the ability to motivate and manage staff; the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and possess well-developed planning and organisational skills; the ability to respond to change, and be adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of the job and the Union.
