No-one should feel afraid to go to work, but our evidence shows that too many retail workers are. It is shocking that over three-quarters of members working in retail are being abused, threatened and assaulted for simply doing their job and serving the community.
Retail workers provide essential service and deserve our respect and the protection of the law.
That’s why we strongly welcome the action that the Government is taking through the Crime and Policing Bill to help tackle retail crime, including a standalone offence of assaulting a retail workers.
But it is vital the Government get this right. That's why we’re asking you to write to your MP to ask for their support to make sure that all retail workers are covered by the legislation, including home delivery drivers.
