Having to wait three days to get any sick pay, or not being able to get any sick pay at all, affects millions of workers across the country, every day.
That’s why Usdaw is delighted that the new Labour Government is taking action to:
- Give all workers statutory sick pay from day one of absence
- Remove the lower earnings limit, which currently stops the lowest paid workers from getting any sick pay.
These changes will, rightly, make statutory sick pay available to all workers. It is the hard work of Usdaw members, campaigning for change, that made these changes possible.
But because statutory sick pay is so important, it is vital we get this right. That's why we’re asking you to write your MP to ask for their support in fixing the system – to make sure that everyone can afford to have time off work when they are sick.
