The increase takes the basic hourly rate to £12 and will be paid from 1 April 2024.
Retail trade union Usdaw has balloted members working for Co-operative Group on a 10.1% pay rise and they have overwhelmingly accepted, with 87% voting in favour. The increase takes the basic hourly rate to £12 and will be paid from 1 April 2024.
Jayne Allport – Usdaw national officer says: “We are pleased to have negotiated this significant pay rise, which is a big help for our members struggling in the ongoing cost of living crisis and recognises their important contribution to the success of the business.
“This increase takes the Co-op rate to the level of the real Living Wage and meets our target of achieving £12 per hour. It is long overdue that the Government made the minimum wage a living wage and increased it to at least £12 per hour immediately. Workers deserve the dignity of decent pay.”
