20% of senior management roles are at risk as part of plans to simplify its head office and management teams. The company also proposes, subject to consultation, to make changes to in-store cafes, patisserie counters and bakery operations, along with hot food and pizza counters.
Bally Auluk – Usdaw national officer says: “Sainsbury’s has informed Usdaw of its restructuring proposals and we will now enter into consultation talks with the company. We understand this will be a worrying time for those affected. Usdaw will be working hard to ensure our members are supported throughout the process and as many people as possible remain in employment with the company. In the meantime, we are providing our members with the support, advice and representation that they need. Any Usdaw member with concerns should contact their workplace union representative.”
