The best way to improve your knowledge and increase your confidence when dealing with pensions is to sign up for our Online Pensions Home Study Course.

It will help you understand the different types of pension scheme on offer today and help you improve your pension knowledge.

You will build up confidence about your own pension, which will help you answer other people's pension queries in your workplace.

The course is straightforward, easy to follow and completely FREE for Usdaw members. It consists of four small modules, each taking approximately 30 minutes to complete.

To get started choose from one of the modules below. When you register you will receive an email with your unique course link. You will have two days to complete each module from the point you register. If you need to pause and start the module again another time within the two days simply click on the link again. Keep hold of the email so you can find the link easily!

When you complete the course, we will send you an Usdaw Certificate.

The course is divided into four modules:

• Module 1 covers the changes which completely reformed the State Pension in 2016. Find out when you will receive your State Pension and how you can obtain a forecast of what this might be.
• Modules 2 & 3 explains about the two types of pension scheme that are operated in the UK. These are known as Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC). Find out why many DB schemes are being closed and what your options are if you are contributing to a DC scheme, following the introduction of the Pension Freedom legislation in 2015.
• Module 4 aims to advise you of your pension rights in the workplace, for example what auto-enrolment means for you and your colleagues, what happens if you are made redundant and what happens in a TUPE situation.

You can pick and choose whichever module is of interest to you, in any order.

On completion of all 4 pension modules above, you can access the Evaluation Module below to fill in a course evaluation and get information on how to receive your Usdaw certificate.
