What is the Royal Literary Fund?
The Royal Literary Fund (RLF) is a charity which employs professional writers to teach writing skills in different workplace and community settings.
Usdaw has been working with the RLF since 2018 to offer group writing skills workshops, both online and in a wide range of workplace settings across the UK.
This work has included letter and CV writing workshops or one-to-ones, life writing and workplace writing skills workshops or webinars and the creation of the Quirks of English bitesize course.
Contact your Project Worker to arrange a workshop (online or face to face) for your workplace, branch, or rep team.
The Write Now! Project
We are living through extraordinary times and we have extraordinary stories to tell. In lockdown, retail, distribution and food production workers played a key role in keeping the country running. You made sure there was food on the shelves and vulnerable people had access to supplies. Now we want to hear your stories of living and working through Covid.
Why?
As Covid-19 spread across the UK, you were suddenly recognised as some of the most important people in the country. But did they know what it was actually like for you as you worked through lockdown – and its aftermath? So we want your stories - in your words - to become part of the national record of these momentous events.
What stories?
However Covid impacted on you - whether you stayed at home, whether you got sick, whether you worked or schooled after your kids - your story of living through lockdown and beyond is part of national history. We want to know what it was like - it doesn’t have to be dramatic to be interesting! You could try, for example, writing about:
- 10 things I learnt in lockdown
- A Typical Lockdown Day
- My Best and my Worst Lockdown Moment
Please see YouTube for some short writing exercise films to help get you started.
Write Now!
Once you have completed your work you can submit it here to be included, under your name or anonymously, in Usdaw’s Living Library.
