Bullying and harassment in the workplace

Bullying and harassment can take various forms and may, but not always, have a sexual or racial side to them, or may be on grounds of disability, age, religion, or belief.

While there is no legal definition, it usually involves persistent and unwelcome treatment that belittles, excludes, or undervalues an individual.

The effect of bullying and harassment can cause psychological and/or physical health issues such as anxiety, depression, difficulty sleeping and other problems.

Usdaw’s policies

Usdaw has negotiated policies with employers to eradicate bullying and harassment that are usually contained in an employee’s contract of employment.

Usdaw reps are also trained to help members who feel they are being bullied at work.
