Telephone Friendship Service

Age UK offers a telephone friendship service for older people which is free to use and means they can enjoy chatting with someone over the phone.

As a volunteer, you will befriend someone who's 60 or over. It's a safe and easy way to get to know someone new.

It involves a weekly call of 30-minutes or so, that should be made on the same day and time each week. You can make the call from wherever suits you - including the comfort of your own home.

For the person you call, your call could be something they really look forward to. For you, it’s an enjoyable way to get to know someone new and have a natter while making a real difference to someone’s life.
